The game of football provides adolescents the foundation for establishing unique life skills, a healthy lifestyle and gaining positive personal experiences while developing their football skills. In other words, football acts as a School of Life !
East Bengal Club’s one of the main priorities is to promote youth football and to encourage the development of young footballers. Youth football offers a glimpse of the future – and the Club gives top priority to produce the stars of tomorrow which will be the supply line of players to the senior team. The task is to provide an opportunity where the young can nurture their talent with a sense of direction and purpose and to make a career out from football.
The Club’s U-17 team serves the purpose of Formative Phase of Youth Player Development as per AFC guidelines. The training program includes Basic skills & technical training, Tactical training, Body conditioning, Speed & Agility training, Basic strength training, Balance & Stability training, Mobility training etc. Besides these Small sided games and 11 a side games with Competition exposure is given to the team.
The U-15 players from this team participates in Manchester United Premier Cup.
East Bengal’s junior team which participated in Manchester United Premier Cup 2007 – World Finals got a word of praise from English legend Sir Bobby Charlton. During the Closing Ceremony of the tournament Charlton said, “This team from India did better than the team we saw last year. I know short stature and frail physique are major handicaps for them but it was still good to see them come and compete at this level and actually do better." The English legend further added, “I saw a few matches, including one featuring this Indian side. They had certain handicaps but what struck me was their stomach for fight, which was astounding. It was really impressive to see how eager they were for a fight."

The Club holds training facilities for the team at the Club ground. Basic training equipments / facilities are being provided to the U-17 team. Footballs are also provided to the team for their practice sessions.
The U-15 players from this team won the India finals of Manchester United Premier Cup in the year 2007 and then went on to become the Asian Regional finals champions of this competition at Singapore and eventually qualified for the World Finals held at Manchester.
The U-15 boys from this youth team had also reached the final of India Finals MUPC in the year 2006 & 2008.
