Anwar Ali began his football training in Rurka Kalan Academy in Jalandhar. His coach noticed his dominance in aerial battles and shifted him to the heart of defence. Anwar improved himself more in central defence became a pillar of strength for the national team.

Anwar kicked off his senior career with Punjab Police, then switched to JCT where he made a bright start by bagging the Most-Promising-Player award in Durand Cup 2006. Ali has plied his trade with some of the country’s leading clubs like Dempo, Mohun Bagan, Mumbai City FC. Anwar joined Kingfisher East Bengal in December 2016.
