The Symposium 'Lessons of Euro Cup 2012-Quest for a new Vista in World Soccer' was held today evening at the East Bengal Club tent. Various speakers presented their views which was well attended by members and fans.

Here are some excerpts from the speakers:

Amal Datta (Former footballer & Coach) - Here the Indians should decide their passion between the club and country. AIFF should take a cue from the Euro and concentrate on developing the infrastructure. Youth Development schemes should be vigorously pursued.

Rupak Saha (Senior Sports Journalist) - Some new things have emerged from this year's Euro. There have been a sizeable number of headed goals 21 of them till date. This was probably due to introduction of line judges for the first time who kept a close watch on the camouflaged fouls of the defenders which have allowed the attackers to go for the aerial balls freely. Spain has concentrated on their passing game and has been adopting 4-6 formation. Whenever they have given forward passes they have looked threatening. Italy have also dished out good football. They always play well when their domestic football is besieged with problems. German coach was building up the team for 2014 World Cup.

P.K.Banerjee (Former footballer & Coach) - He also emphasized that Spain have been successful in their own strategy. He praised Italy's Marco Balotelli and Andrea Pirlo for their performances. He also felt that Youth Development should be taken up in right earnest in India for the progress of the country's football.

Surajit Sengupta (Former footballer) - Teams whose nucleus evolved around the players from same clubs have been successful in Euro - Spain (Real Madrid, Barcelona), Italy (Juventus), Germany (Bayern Munich). He also lauded the youth development in Spain which has contributed to their country's excellent show.

Debashis Mukherjee and Mehtab Hossein also spoke. The program was anchored by Manas Chakravarty while the introduction was undertaken be the General Secretary Kalyan Majumdar.
